(Taken from 1 Peter:1)

Because Jesus was raised from the dead, believers had a “living hope” given by God. Because of His mercy for us, He has reserved in Heaven an “incorruptible inheritance” that no man can take away. To obtain this living hope we have to believe that Jesus died for our sins and was raised up by God. Because we are given this living hope, we should always praise God and bring glory to His name in everything we say and do. We are told to be careful of our thoughts, stay sober, give up our former lusts of the flesh, and set ourselves apart to honor God. Our sins block our path to God, but Christ has blotted them out by the blood he shed for us. He was the perfect sacrifice, ordained before the foundation of the world.
Though we may think we are immortal, our life is like the grass and the flowers that will live in the sun for a while and then wither. Eventually, we will die, but the Word of the Lord will endure forever.
